Homemade Andhra Pickles Online in Delhi NCR: South Indian Pachadi for Delhi, Noida and Gurugram
Delhi NCR is about as far from the Godavari as you can get within India, in distance and in food. And yet thousands of Telugu people live here: government officers, students preparing for exams in Old Rajinder Nagar and Mukherjee Nagar, IT professionals in Noida and Gurugram, and families who moved for work years ago.
Delhi has a strong pickle culture of its own. Mustard-oil mango achar, gajar-gobhi-shalgam in winter, lime pickles in jars on every terrace. But Andhra pickles are a different experience altogether, and many Delhiites who try them become fans.
This guide is for both: the Telugu family missing home, and the North Indian food lover curious about South Indian heat who wants to order homemade Andhra pickles online. You can browse the full range of Andhra pickles with current prices for every pack size.
Delhi Achar vs Andhra Pachadi
Both are delicious, but they are built differently.
- Oil: North Indian achar usually uses mustard oil, with its pungent kick. Our Andhra pickles use groundnut oil, which is milder and lets the spices lead.
- Mustard: In Delhi achar, mustard comes through the oil. In Andhra avakaya, ground mustard seeds are a core part of the masala.
- Heat: Andhra pickles use generous red chilli powder. Expect more heat than a typical Punjabi achar.
- Variety: Andhra kitchens pickle things you rarely see in Delhi: gongura (sour sorrel leaves), drumsticks, amla with chilli, and chicken, mutton and prawns.
What to Order First in Delhi NCR
For Telugu homes: Avakaya and Gongura
Avakaya Pickle and Gongura Pickle are the two jars Telugu people miss most. Gongura leaves are almost impossible to find fresh in Delhi markets. Our veg gongura is made in small batches, so if it shows out of stock, message us on WhatsApp to hear about the next batch; our Gongura Chicken carries the same tangy taste.
For North Indian food lovers: Lemon and Tomato
If you grew up on Delhi nimbu achar, try Andhra Lemon Pickle to taste how different a spicy, mustard-and-garlic version can be. Tomato Pickle is tangy and one of our gentler pickles, a good introduction to Andhra flavours.
For non-veg lovers: Chicken and Mutton
Delhi loves its meat. Chicken Pickle and Mutton Pickle are rich, spicy and ready to eat. Boneless Chicken is the easiest for rolls and office lunches.
For those who like it really hot
Pandu Mirchi Pickle is made from fresh ripe red chillies. If you enjoy the hari mirch achar at your local dhaba, this is its fiery Andhra cousin.
Andhra Pickles With North Indian Food
You don't need a South Indian meal to enjoy these pickles.
- Aloo paratha with avakaya or lemon pickle: A Sunday breakfast upgrade.
- Rajma chawal with tomato pickle: The tang lifts the creamy rajma.
- Dal chawal with gongura: Very close to the Telugu pappu annam.
- Moong dal khichdi with lemon pickle: Perfect for a light dinner.
- Chicken pickle rolls: Shredded boneless chicken pickle in a rumali or chapati with onion and mint chutney.
- Curd rice or dahi-chawal: With magaya or lemon pickle on a hot May afternoon.
Storing Pickles Through Delhi's Extreme Seasons
Delhi weather swings hard, and pickles notice.
- Summer (April to June): Kitchens get very hot. Keep jars in the coolest cupboard, away from the stove, windows and the refrigerator's back vent. Refrigerate after opening.
- Monsoon (July to September): Humidity rises. Dry spoon, tight lid, every time.
- Winter (December to February): Groundnut oil may thicken or look slightly cloudy in the cold. This is normal and clears at room temperature.
- Non-veg pickles: Keep refrigerated after opening, all year round.
